New and never worn on card in factory sealed package. They should
be able to comfortably fit a size 10 or 11 Long, fitting a person from
5’8″ – 5’10” in height and medium size legs best. As with all
stockings, these are volumetric, meaning that the thinner the leg, the
higher on the thigh they will go, although they should
accommodate
somewhat
full legs with a reasonable length, depending on wearer’s height. Be sure to
soak them in fine washables solution, such as Hosiery Mate or Woolite first,
which will relax the fibres for best stretch and fit.
This color Black Leg with Red welt, seam, and foot, with French Point Heel, which goes with almost any outfit, and absolutely sets off ANY pair of legs. The plain knit, Silky Sheer fabric appears to MELT on the legs, creating the highly sheer effect only REAL plain knit hosiery can produce. These exquisite hose look EVER so much BETTER than plain old dull pantyhose or thigh highs styles can ever hope to….., and can be worn with short skirts, to show off the uber-sexy lace tops! Lace tops may differ from those shown in the pics. Indeed the lace tops on THESE stockings will be even more plush than the ones in the pics above, although they are the same basic stocking.

The non-stretch vintage stocking sizing is/was much like dress sizing, whether back in the day, or today, that is, the same size stocking, made by different manufacturers would have slight variations to the above table, hence the table is intended as a guide, but not as a guarantee of fit, because of these manufacturer variations in cut, width, and length. In other words, just like the gals did in the golden age of hosiery, you can embark on an adventure in sizing. You will get to know after a while, the little idiosyncrasies of the various manufacturers, such as Berkshire and Albert’s, who tended to make their stockings a little longer in length and, typically, about ¼” larger in the foot measurement.
Stretch stockings generally follow the basic non-stretch model in our listings, as we give the non-stretch equivalent whenever possible.
Vintage stockings are measured flat, and will look long when taken out of the package, but are volumetric, meaning that as they are put on the leg, the volume of the leg will take up volume making their length shorter, as the nylon wraps around the dimensions of the legs. Simply put, slim legs will have stockings rise higher on the leg and thigh. Heavier legs will have them rise less. Understand too, the dress and skirt fashions of yesteryear were a lot longer, hence the need for extra-long stockings wasn’t as necessary as it might be with today’s shorter length dresses and skirts. Keep this in mind when ordering, as some wearers like their stockings high on the leg regardless, in which case, you would choose an XL or XXL length when possible.
As with all nylons, newer OR, classic-styled, we suggest washing them in fine fabric wash, such as Woolite or Hosiery Mate before using, to relax the fibers, or in the case of these nylons that are newly made with new nylon, to help to extend their durability.
